Contouring has been around for a long time & is used in TV/Film as well as Fashion Shows & Photoshoots, it basically will enhance the features you want & disguise those you don't want as well as giving depth to your features too. Both Stila & Mac have just released their brand new contouring kits & this technique is set to become a lot more popular at the cosmetic counters this year!
Stila's new Face Contouring Trio kit comes with 3 shades, a light shade for highlighting, a dark shade for the shading & a middle shade for shimmer.
A quick basic way to add defintion to your cheek bones is to take your powder brush & in the hollow of you cheek (the soft part under your cheek bone)& lightly blend the dark shade in this area, then take the light shade as your highlighter along the top of your cheek bone & blend both thoroughly together by taking a little more of the highlighter & in light circular movements go over the whole cheek area to soften the look. Lastly take the medium colour (or flash colour as they call it) & blend this over the apple of your cheek, to find this, smile & apply to the fleshy part of your cheek. This will give a lot more defintion to your face structure & can trick the eye, making others believe you have high cheek bones worthy of the front cover of vogue!!!!
You can also narrow your nose, simply take the dark shade on each side of your nose, make sure you belend this to give a very soft finish, then with the highlighter blend down the bridge of your nose. There are some diagrams below to help show how to do this, the tip that I can't stress enough is to blend thoroughly using soft circular movements!!!!
Macs version 'Sculpt & Shape' uses the same idea but with 2 colours rather than 3 but they come ina range of shades so suitable for really pale skins, so follow the instructions as above....
