Sonam is the eldest daughter of Anil Kapoor, her siblings are Rhea Kapoor and Harshvardhan. Sonam has done her schooling from Arya Vidya Mandir, Mumbai after that she enrolled in the United World College of South East Asia for an International Baccalaureate. Sonam Kapoor has the knowledge of Hindi, English and Punjabi languages, she is a trained dancer. In the year 2008, the lady was entitled with Filmfare Best Female Debut Award for her wonderful performance in the movie 'Saawariya'.

In the year 2007, she made her Bollywood debut with the movie 'Saawariya' which was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali himself. After that, Sonam appeared in Delhi-6 opposite Abhishek Bachchan. The flick was directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. Her recent releases are 'I hate luv storys' and 'Aisha'. Now, she is looking forward for her upcoming movie 'Mausam' wherein she is all set to create magic on the silver screen with Shahid Kapoor.
