Vidya Balan was born to Tamil Parents. Her father P.R.Balan is the vice president of ETC channel and her mother is a housewife. The actress has done her schooling from St. Anthony Girls High School, Mumbai. Vidya has done her graduation in Sociology from St.Xavier's College,Mumbai . She got an offer for her first movie when she headed to University of Mumbai to study M.A.

Vidya appeared in many Television advertisements directed by Pradeep Sarkar. The gorgeous lady made her presence in the music videos of 'Euphoria', 'Pankaj Udhas' and 'Shubha Mudgal'.
