Backstage at Milan Fashion Week with Sam McKnight (Global Ambassador for Pantene Pro-V)

The Look: "Glamping" - Glamorous Camping
The S/S ’10 DSquared2 collection was inspired by ‘grunge goes glam’. For this look think camping with ball gowns and tents with chandeliers.
For the hair, Sam McKnight captured this ‘grunge goes glam’ inspiration by creating a hair look that screamed ‘Day 3 at Glastonbury*’ - with not so neat, random braids. Keeping it loose and individual, the models wore sometimes one, sometimes two and sometimes three braids of varying thickness, texture and positioning on the head.

Get the Look:
Firstly work mousse through the lengths of the hair to add texture and hold - ensuring the braids don’t slip out. Then randomly divide hair into one, two or even three uneven sections. Plait each section into braids of varying thicknesses.

The key to the look is keeping the braid loose. To achieve this start braiding the section of hair part way down the hair length and secure at the ends with a clear ponytail band. Then to finish the look, run your fingers from the end of the braid upwards to create this loose, dishevelled appearance. To add further texture, work the braid between the fingers.

“To ensure this look is ‘grunge goes glam’ rather than plain ‘grunge’ make sure hair is in the best condition possible before and after styling. Use a shampoo and conditioning regime that will protect hair against mechanical damage caused by this kind of styling” Sam McKnight.

heaven at sunday suppers...

If you don't already stalk Sunday Suppers, you quite seriously need to do so... I have yet to see such beautiful food photography (besides Cannelle et Vanille - they are both equally amazing). These latest pics of a recent trip to Paris have me really missing the gorgeous city... it's all so dreamy... I just want to go back and document the whole place! See more images here.

chill factor...

The weather is definitely cooling down out there, but with the sun peeking through the clouds it tricks you into thinking it's still warm... definitely time to invest in a few snuggly sweaters and put away the peep-toe flats... have you given into fall yet?

Am I Wearing False Lashes - New L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara!!!

Here is the latest innovation from L'Oreal, the new Telescopic Explosion Mascara, not only does the innovation lie with the brush style but it is a new formula that is based on water & polymers as well as D-Pantenol which coat the mascara with an extra thick layer of mascara keeping the lashes stronger & more flexible. The ingredients add volume as well as shape to the lashes & the small globe brush makes it super easy to coat every lash right into the inner corners so even the hardest to reach lashes have an even coat from root to tip with no lumps which leaves an impressive panoramic effect. Anyway it's a firm favourite for me, even my husband noticed the difference after applying it for the first time, commenting on my false lashes...!!!! Of course I wasn't wearing any, so an impressive illusion!
Available Nationwide - £8.80.

girly girl...

How gorgeous is Fendi's new Spring collection? I've been catching up on the latest shows tonight and I can't get over how perfect this collection is. Loving all the pastels and neutrals, the ribbon wrapped heels, clear clutches and leather bags. Even the model's make up is gorgeous with those rose-gold eyes and delicate pink lips... so girly and fun!

relaxing moment...

It's been grey and rainy today, and into tonight... which I think is making me even more sleepy. In need of soothing surroundings, a cup of tea, relaxing with a mag, and cosying up on the couch. Hope everyone's week is off to a great start...

This rainy weather just makes me want to get-a-way... somewhere with a beach and my favourite person...

monday blues...

Monday, monday... here again. Always a little bittersweet though. A new start to the week is nice, but I always try to stretch out Sunday night hoping Monday won't arrive. The crisp, fall weather is definitely settling in, and i'm feeling deep, dark midnight blues for it's dramatic presence and cool, fall feeling. I'd love a double-breasted navy blazer, and those blue and white sheets. Not to mention that modern dining set! I love the square-ness of all the chairs and table. Navy is just one of those classic colours that will never get old...

Hope you all had a good weekend...

whew, great weekend...

Officially exhausted, but had a great weekend. Thank you for all your well wishes, the bachleorette was a lot of fun!

We started the day in Toronto at a pole dancing class - yes, pole dancing - it was hilarious! All in good fun, but I have to say, it's actually kind of hard to do! We got some great pics of that though. Later we headed back to the hotel, got all dressed up, and headed out for a great night... dinner at Il Fornello's (italian, yum...) and dancing later at Smooze.

Odd part of the night? The bathrooms at Smooze have two-way mirrors in the stalls. So you can see someone behind you washing their hands, checking their make up in the mirror, or fixing their hair, but they can't see you in the stall right in front of them! SO WEIRD, but hilarious to watch people fix themselves without them knowing.

Long story short, i'm so happy we all had a wonderful time, and i'm even more excited for the wedding on Friday!

Variations in Priyanka's skin tone, hair and voice for WYR?

We know that Priyanka Chopra plays 12 roles in Ashutosh Gowariker’s What’s Your Raashee. And that each one has been styled differently. But the attention that Ashutosh Gowariker has paid to the hair styling for each of the 12 Priyankas takes our breath away.

Variations in Priyanka's skin

So the diligent director took pain staking effort to achieve the right look for the right character. Ashutosh says,“You can tell a girl’s personality not only by her clothes and hair but also by the way the hair bounces, voices and skin tones.”

Non-film hair stylist Asha Hariharan was brought in to do Priyanka Chopra’s hair for the 12 characters. For that it was needed that an expert beyond the expertise offered by the Bollywood names be roped in.Neeta Lulla has done all of Priyanka’s clothes.

Ashutosh believed that Priyanka could pull off all 12 parts. He saw how nuanced her performances were right from the time she made her debut in The Hero.

Rajesh Patil was roped in to do Priyanka’s 12 skin tones. Priyanka being dusky in complexion had a particularly tough time playing the more gora avtars.Priyanka has assumed a different skin tone, complexion and playback voices, each suited to the individual character in terms of personality and body/spoken language.

As for her voices Ashutosh sifted through innumerable voices with composer Sohail Sen before selecting the 11 voices (the 12th girl doesn’t sing).

found my animal...

Remember this girl with the gorgeous dress and adorable dog from The Sartorialist earlier this summer? Well as much as I loved her outfit, I couldn't help but want her dog's leash as well... and I don't even have a dog, lol.

A thick, fisherman-like rope seems like such an obvious choice for your pet's leash, so I was super excited to end up stumbling upon the company who actually makes them, earlier this week. Found My Animal donates 25% of all their profits to the Louis Animal Foundation who provides homes for animals who have not yet "found" their people. Each leash is hand-spliced and stamped with an individual number on a brass tag to keep track of all the animals helped so far. Such a basic, beautiful item... i'll be sure to get one whenever I have my own puppy...
