let's go to the country house...

I love how nice and welcoming these kitchens both look. The black check looks especially fitting whether it's just a little on a table cloth or a lot with a statement floor. They both look like a family gathering could take place any minute, or maybe just a cup of tea with a friend who stopped by. Plus, I think it looks great when items are kept neatly outside of the cupboards, hanging off overhead bars, or gathered in jugs & ceramic vases... gorgeous!

fun & feminine...

Something I really like about the 70's is that hip, but feminine fashion that seems to be flattering on anyone. It reminds me of Jackie from that 70's show, her outfits were always girly and fun, wide leg pants and all...

waiting for spring...

I woke up to a snowy day today, when really all I want is warmer days and a picnic in the park. The first picnic of the season is always the best one... if only Spring would come soon! (At least the sun is sort of coming out now...) Has anyone in warmer climates been out for a picnic yet?

Keep Hydrated and Fabulous on the Move - Ark Skincare

Any gal knows travelling can be a hazardous time for our skin. Excessive vehicle fumes, lack of humidity in cabin air followed by air conditioned waiting halls or central heating affects our delicate cells, causing intense dryness. Dannii Minogue is a fan of ARK and we are convinved a little glass vile of this wonder serum must be stowed away in her Louis Vuitton!

At a handy 30ml, the ARK SkinResponse hydrating serum is the ultimate chic travelling accessory. Not only will it fit into your handbag and pass customs in hand luggage, this mineral rich serum will leave skin moisturised, silky soft and positively glowing, ensuring you look every bit the A-lister as you waltz through the terminal.

ARK’s SkinResponse hydrating serum uses a mixture of potent ingredients and concentrated complexes including Algae and Cucumber extracts which provide immediate and highly concentrated nutrient rich hydration. The serum contains a film forming complex of moisturisers, that locks elevated water levels in the skin, plumping it up and protecting it against moisture loss. It actively addresses the moisture balance in skin that is showing signs of dehydration such as dryness, fine lines and dullness.
The serum responds to the needs of your skin immediately and has a lasting effect by targeting these concerns for a 6-8 week treatment period, after which time you can go back to your normal skincare regime. The hydrating serum should be applied sparingly, 2-3 drops, either directly to the skin or mixed with your prescribed moisturiser or masque. Designed to intensify the bioactive treatment of your skin when required.

Ark has an ever-growing celebrity fan base including Dannii Minogue, Nikki Chapman and Katie Melua.

ARK SkinResponse Hydrating Serum is 30ml £36, and available at Ark Centres in Wimbledon, Putney and Fulham, or online at www.arkskincare.com t: 020 7938 1898

Love this bathroom with just enough room for two... a double sink, two taps, two mirrors, and pretty monogrammed towels. What a lovely little bathroom, don't you think? Nice and bright too!

gorgeous florals + lovely linens...

Over the past couple of years i've often found myself in awe of pretty vintage linen. Whether it has a beautiful floral pattern, detailed embroidery or a scallop-trimmed edge, when used to upholster a chair or create smooth, soft sheets, the gorgeous detail certainly stands out! So when I came across Cabbages & Roses thanks to a lovely reader who emailed me a while back (thanks Cate!), I discovered so many beautiful fabrics with lovely, simple, English charm. Between all the clothes, homeware, and an array of fabrics, it just makes me want to set up home in a lovely country house!

Designed to fit in with their Langton range of neutrals, greys, and blacks, the new Spring 2011 line is made from linen or antique linen, and hand-stamped with a special Cabbages & Roses stamp. I love that the neutral shades allow the patterns to stand out more without being too overpowering or ultra-girly, for more simpler tastes. The grey tones are elegant and chic, with a little French charm too, wouldn't you say?

The only thing missing is a lovely scent to fill your home, and lucky for us Cabbages & Roses is giving away one of their Tuberose & Ylang candles. Just pop by their site or blog and come back here to leave a comment to enter.
Also, if you'd like up to 3 extra entries you can tweet, post on your blog, or post on Facebook about the giveaway. Just be sure to leave separate comments for each entry. Good luck! A winner be chosen this Friday, and please remember to include your email address if I can't access your blogger profile.

currently coveting :: lavender dreams...

Ever since my first trip to a lavender farm last Summer, i've been obsessed with lavender products that smell true to the flower. I never used to love it, finding it way too strong, but now with the right product I find the scent so relaxing and soothing. My friend and co-worker Sue, recently gave me some lavender handmade soap from Olivier, and it's amazing! It's moisturizing, smells wonderful, and the little flower buds within it are great for exfoliating. It definitely inspired me to gather more of my favourite lavender products, plus a few new ones i'd like to try out (hello pretty lollia sachet!).

What about you? Do you loathe or love the scent of lavender?

monday morning, back again...

Hello everyone... Monday has arrived and i'm back in the blogging world... It was so wonderful to have some time off from everything and enjoy some birthday fun and relaxation. Thank you SO much for all the sweet birthday wishes! Really, it was so nice to read everyone's comments/tweets during the past week. I had a really great time... got to do a few things i've been wanting to get to, had some visits with friends and some time to think of how i'd like to get moving on a few projects. Inspiration always strikes with a little down time! So, a fresh start it is... new projects and things to do, with hopefully a lingering feeling of relaxation and calm into this brand new week... (and some healthy food, lol... i've had waaay too many treats!)

Bourjois - Paris Ballerina 2011

Back to its first love of stage, Bourjois brings into the spotlight the modern day ballerina for Spring 2011!

Between the delicate ballet universe and the Bourjois’ colourful joie de vivre, a new delicate yet edgy look is born resulting in pastel hues twisted with deep black and blue suiting all women from 7 to 77!

Eye Focus: dress your eyes in tender, poetic shades with smoky accents for a graceful ballerina look with the soul of a rock star

Step 1: Eye Definition
Subtly define your eyes with an ultra-soft duo of delicate pink and a flash of softly shimmering silver shades Apply pink Little Round Pot eyeshadow Rose Dragee #05 over your eyelids following the curve of the eye through to the inner corner of the eye to highlight. Blend in the eyeshadow from the base of the eyelashes to the eyebrow arch. Next, add the sparkling silver Little Round Pot eyeshadow Argent Pailettes #25 putting more emphasis on the outer corner of the eyes to open them up.

Step 2: For that Rock ‘n’ Roll Touch
Using the Effet Smoky eyeliner in Ultra Black #76 draw a thick black line onto the base of your eyelashes with the pencil end of the liner and blend it in using the brush tip to create a perfect blended look. Coat your lashes with Volume Glamour Ultra Curl mascara to give your lashes extra volume and curl.

To complement your eyes and complete the look, achieve a fresh complexion, powdered lips and rock ‘n’ roll nails.

CLEANLINESS IS NEXT TO GODLINESS - LIMITED EDITION HEAVEN AND HELL ’GRAFFITI’ SOAP

“I first discovered this natural, beautifully packaged liquid soap in France. The French take their products seriously and not just any soap gets the denomination as it must be made up mostly of natural oils in order to be truly Marseillaise." Gwyneth Paltrow

Compagnie de Provence Graffiti Liquid Marseille Soap £16.50

Keep it clean for 2011 with Compagnie de Provence’s limited edition Heaven and Hell ‘Graffiti’ soaps, representing the urban face of France’s most legendary region. This year, the Marseille- based soap and skincare brand invited graffiti artist iLK™ to ‘tag’ its classic glass bottles in homage to the wall art flowering across the Provençal capital, where hip hop and graffiti culture
reign supreme. France’s Banksy, iLK™’s work has also featured on collections by Lacoste and Nike.

Inspired by Marseille’s reputation as a city of contrasts, the ‘Heaven’ and ‘Hell’ graffiti-illustrated bottles symbolise the city’s two extremes: the chaotic buzz of the working port versus the purity and tranquillity of the Mediterranean sea. The limited edition bottles contain a specially fragranced liquid Marseille soap (Savon de Marseille) combining the sparkling sharpness of citrus fruits with vibrant woody notes and green top notes. Each 500ml pump action glass bottle is presented in a beautifully illustrated gift box.

A cult staple in French kitchens and bathrooms for over twenty years, Compagnie de Provence singlehandedly revitalized the ancient Marseille soap industry, transforming the iconic cube into the first ever liquid soap, which is still made in cauldrons according to centuries-old tradition.

beautiful bathroom...

Waking up to bright light... the best part of Spring-time mornings. I love this all white, amazingly bright bathroom! The long, dramatic curtains are perfect with those little ruffles and stripes. I just hope no one can see you from the other side of that window, lol...

criss-cross...

While a normal chair cushion would be tied only at the top, love how this version uses long ribbons to criss-cross all the way down each leg like a ballet slipper. So elegant with just a little touch of "pretty" like that... don't you think?

weekend moments + a winner...

Hello, hello... hope you all had a lovely weekend. Mine was lots of fun! My boyfriend spoiled me with early-birthday treats... dinner & a movie, ice cream, and a pretty pink dress. And yesterday I had a day with the girls for a late brunch at Coquine, a few stops for macarons, madeleines and cupcakes (I had raspberry), and exploring a pretty parisian store. It turned into quite the french-themed day!

I managed to snap these photos of one of the bakeries we stopped by called Bobbette & Belle. It's absolutely gorgeous inside! Bright white, with big windows, chandeliers and girly decor... it was just my kind of place! The plate collection is actually held up with industrial velcro, which is pretty neat... an idea you could certainly try out at home. I recommend a visit if you're ever in Toronto.

Also, the lucky blogger behind Absolutely White, is the winner of the Dear June giveaway! Congrats, I will be in touch soon. Thanks to everyone who entered and left such lovely comments. Romina's work is beautiful!
